Method
- In a large cast iron skillet melt 1 Tbsp butter and add 1 Tbsp oil.
- Once heated, add onions and peppers.
- Saute for a couple minutes then add minced garlic and continue to saute another minute.
- Add ground turkey. Bring to a medium heat.
- Season with salt pepper and garlic powder and let cook for about 2-3 minutes until browned a bit.
- Flip, season other side and add Worcestershire sauce.
- Break up meat with a spatula.
- Once almost done incorporate your onion/pepper mixture and continue to cook until no longer pink.
- Add cheese to the mix. Combine well.
- Remove from heat.
- In a separate skillet melt remaining butter and brown hoagy rolls.
- Add a layer of mayonnaise if desired.
- Next a layer of your Chopped Cheese mixture.
- Top with American cheese and broil just until cheese melts beautifully.
Add shredded lettuce and sliced tomatoes if you like. Serve with your favorite sides.
