Fried Green Tomatoes

Kenny back in the kitchen this time he's frying up an old classic, green tomatoes.

Ingredients
  

  • 2 green tomatoes
  • 1 cup Flour
  • 1 cup Cornmeal
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp pepper
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 2 eggs
  • Cooking oil

Method
 

  1. Slice tomatoes into 1/4 in slices
  2. Season both sides with salt
  3. Mix 1 cup of flour with 1 tsp of salt, 1 tsp pepper, and 1 tsp Cajun seasoning
  4. Mix 1 cup cornmeal with 1 tsp garlic powder
  5. Mix 2 eggs with 2-3 tbsp of water and beat well
  6. Drop tomato slices in seasoned flour covering both sides
  7. Next place the floured tomato in the egg wash and
  8. Finally, dip into the cornmeal seasoning
  9. Preheat skillet with 1/4 in. of oil over med-high heat
  10. Plate breaded tomatoes in hot oil and cook 3 min per side until golden brown
  11. Place on a wire rack to cool (to avoid being soggy don't place on paper towel)
