Classic Sloppy Joes

Classic Sloppy Joe using ground beef or ground turkey.

Ingredients
  

  • 1 lb of ground beef chicken, or turkey
  • 1 clove garlic
  • 2 tsp mustard
  • ¾ cup ketchup
  • 2 tbsp brown sugar
  • ½ tsp kosher salt
  • ¼ tsp black pepper
  • Burger buns

Method
 

  1. Preheat skillet with 1-2 tsp oil on med-high heat
  2. Cook meat until brown (3-5 min) break up meat thoroughly
  3. Remove meat and drain oils
  4. Add 1 tbsp of butter to the hot pan (med heat) and allow to melt
  5. Add 1/2 yellow onion  chopped and 1/2 bell pepper chopped
  6. Let veggies brown for 1-2 minute (don't stir) then flip, stir and let brown again 1-2 min
  7. Add browned meat to veggie pan
  8. Season with 1 clove garlic, 2 tsp mustard, 3/4 cup ketchup, 2 tbsp brown sugar, 1/2 tsp kosher salt, 1/4 tsp black pepper
  9. Mix and cook down 5-10 min
  10. Scoop mix onto buns (for an extra flavor add cheese and pickles)
