Blackened Shrimp Cavatappi

Blackened shrimp Cavatappi is a delicious dish that may not be well known. Made with spicy blackened shrimp, a  tomato-infused sauce, and Cavatappi pasta its a flavor combination you'll favor, enjoy.

Ingredients
  

  • 1 pound large shrimp cleaned peeled and de-veined
  • 8 oz Cavatappi noodles cooked al dente according to package instructions
  • 2 Tbsp blackening seasoning or to make your own as follows:
1 tsp of each..
  • Garlic Powder
  • Onion Powder
  • Cumin
  • Smoked Paprika
  • Dried Oregano
  • Cayenne pepper
  • Black Pepper
  • and 1/2 tsp Salt
  • 1 Tbsp butter
  • 1 cup heavy whipping cream
  • 2 Tbsp tomato paste
  • ¼ cup sour cream
  • ½ cup fresh Parmesan cheese grated
  • Green onions or fresh parsley chopped for garnish

Method
 

  1. Cook Cavatappi noodles according to package instructions.
  2. Season Shrimp on both sides.
  3. Melt butter in a large skillet on medium high heat.
  4. Cook shrimp 4-5 minutes flipping halfway through. Remove and transfer to a plate.
  5. Reduce heat to medium in the same skillet. Add heavy whipping cream.
  6. Bring to a low simmer, scraping up the brown bits from the bottom of the pan for even more Flava!
  7. Reduce heat to low and add tomato paste, sour cream and Parmesan cheese. Stir until smooth.
  8. Add salt and pepper to taste if needed.
  9. Add cooked pasta and shrimp to the sauce and toss to coat.
  10. Garnish with chopped parsley or green onions.
