Beer Battered Portobello Mushroom Fries

Ingredients
  

  • Vegetable Oil
  • 2 large portobello mushroom caps sliced into 1/4 inch slices
  • 1 ½ cups Buttermilk
  • ½ cup beer
  • 1 cup all purpose flour
  • Pinch of salt
  • Lemonnaise
  • cup mayonnaise
  • Juice of 1 lemon
  • Salt and Cracked Black Pepper

Method
 

  1. Heat several inches of oil in a deep pan or deep fryer to 350°F
  2. Mix flour, salt, buttermilk and beer together into a pancake batterlike consistency.
  3. When oil is ready and hot coat mushrooms with batter, shaking off excess and fry in batches until golden brown on both sides (about 3-4 minutes).
  4. Drain on baking rack lined with paper towels.
  5. Lemonnaise sauce: Whisk together mayonnaise, lemon juice, salt and healthy amount of pepper.
  6. Serve immediately!
