This Thai basil chicken recipe is a great savory and sweet flavor blend. Instead of using Thai basil we’ll be going with Holy basil,Thai basil has a sweet, anise quality whereas holy basil is found to be spicy and peppery. Thai chicken with holy basil, chuurch! Enjoy
Thai Basil Chicken
IngredientsÂ
- 2 Tbsp Sesame oil
- 2 boneless skinless chicken breasts cut into cubes (about 1/2 inches)
- 1 large onion coarsely chopped
- 2 cloves garlic minced
- 1/3 cup cornstarch
- 1 Thai Chile or Serrano pepper minced
- (I used a Serrano pepper)
- 1 teaspoon green Curry paste
- 3 Tbsp Asian fish sauce
- 3 Tbsp soy sauce
- 1/3 cup Sherry
- 1 Tbsp brown sugar
- 1 1/2 cups chicken stock
- 1 1/2 cups Holy Basil (Thai Basil or Italian Basil (will do the trick as well)
- Jasmine Rice for serving
DirectionsÂ
- Heat oil in wok over high heat. Add onion and cook for 3-4 minutes.
- Add garlic and cook another 1 minute.
- Toss chicken in cornstarch and add to the wok. Cook for about 5 minutes, stirring frequently until almost cooked through.
- Add Serrano pepper, green Curry paste, fish sauce, Sherry, brown sugar and soy sauce. Stir and cook about 2 minutes until reduced slightly.
- Add chicken stock and cook for another 3 minutes until sauce thickens a bit.
- Stir in Holy Basil and serve immediately over your Jasmine Rice.
