Southern Style Buttermilk Chicken Sandwich…nuff said

Follow Kenny into his kitchen as he shows you how to make a chicken sandwich made with a buttermilk batter to give it that savory southern taste.

Southern-style Buttermilk Chicken Sandwich

Ingredients

  • 1 cup buttermilk
  • 2 tbsp hot sauce
  • 2 chicken thighs
  • Salt & pepper
  • 2 cups flour
  • Brioche buns
  • Vegetable oil
  • Mayo
  • Lettuce

Directions

  1. In a large bowl mix 1 cup buttermilk and hot sauce. whisk well and set to the side
  2.  Wrap chicken thighs in plastic wrap and tenderize with a mallet
  3. Season breast with salt pepper
  4. Separate flour into 2 bowls each with 1 cup of flour
  5. Add 1/3 of buttermilk mix into one of the bowls with flour and mix (mixture may be clumpy)
  6. Dredge chicken breast in flower, then in buttermilk mixture and finally in buttermilk/flour mixture
  7. Preheat oil in fryer or pan to med-high heat
  8. Place breast in hot oil and cook 3-5 min per side until golden brown
  9. Toast the bun then coat the bottom bun with mayo. Add chicken breast, pickles, and lettuce
