If you like skirt steak or if you’ve never had it, this grilled skirt steak recipe is the one to try. First prepare a Chipotle dry rub mix that’ll take your skirt steak to the next level, then grill till tender and, enjoy.
Grilled Skirt Steak with Chipotle Dry Rub
INGREDIENTS
- 1-2 pounds skirt steak (outer)
Chipotle seasoning
- 1 Tbsp brown sugar
- 1 tsp sea salt
- 1 tsp black pepper
- 1 tsp Chili powder
- 1 tsp granulated garlic
- 1 tsp onion powder
- 1/2 tsp Chipotle chili pepper
- 1/4 tsp cayenne pepper (Optional)
DIRECTIONS
- Preheat grill to 400-450 degrees for direct grilling.
- In a small bowl combine Chipotle Dry Rub ingredients.
- Trim any excess fat from skirt steak and cut into pieces for easier handling.
- Season skirt steak generously with Chipotle rub.
- Grill steak over direct heat 3-4 minutes per side in total (actually flipping every 2 minutes for an internal temperature between 125-135°F).
- Remove from grill and allow to rest for 10 minutes before slicing.
- Slice against the grain by cutting the long steak into short sections, then cutting into thin tender strips.
- Serve with sliced, grilled onions and colorful green peppers Fajita style or just dig in.
