Time for a treat, Kenny’s turkey chili this chili dish grows tastier with time. Made with ground turkey or 80/20 ground beef and a special spice blend this chili will keep you coming back for more, and each time will be better than the last. For an extra treat serve it in a hollowed cornbread muffin, enjoy.
KK’s Award Winning Turkey Chili
Ingredients
- 1 1/2 lbs ground turkey
- 1 small yellow onion diced
- 1 green pepper diced
- 1 red pepper diced
- 2 garlic cloves minced
- 3 Tbsp Olive Oil separated
- 1 tsp garlic powder
- 1 tsp Chili powder
- 1 tsp smoked paprika
- 1 tsp ground cumin
- 1 tsp Chipotle Chili powder
- 1 tsp cinnamon
- 2 tsp tomato paste
- 1 10oz can fire roasted tomatoes diced
- 1 10oz can tomato soup
- 1-2 10oz can(s) Chili beans and/or black beans drained and rinsed.
- 1 cup chicken broth or stock
- 1 box cornbread of your choice
For garnish
- 1 Jalapeño pepper grilled
- Sour cream (dollop)
- Shredded cheese of your choice
Directions
- 1. Heat 1 1/2 Tbsp oil in a large pot or Dutch oven. Brown ground turkey on one side for about 3 minutes on medium high heat. Flip and break up meat.
- 2. Add diced veggies and garlic to the mix.
Note: You can saute garlic and veggies in a separate skillet in 1 Tbsp of oil for even more flavor. - 3. Add tomato paste. Combine well then add fire roasted tomatoes and stir in well. Add tomato soup, chicken broth and beans stir and simmer for at least 30 minutes. The longer the better. Chili will even taste better tomorrow.
- 4. Bake box cornbread according to package directions. Hollow out with a small bowl to make cornbread bowl. Fill with chili and garnish with shredded cheese, grilled Jalapeño and dollop of sour cream.
