Honey Butter Fried Chicken
Ingredients
- 6-8 pieces mixed chicken
- 3 cups all purpose flour
- 3/4 cup cornstarch
- 5-6 cups vegetable oil for frying
- 2 Tbsp garlic powder
- 1 1/2 Tbsp Kosher Salt
- 1 Tbsp black pepper
- 1/4 tsp cayenne pepper
- 1 quart buttermilk
- 2 Tbsp honey
- 1 Tbsp butter melted
Directions
- In a large bowl season chicken 1/2 of the garlic powder, salt, pepper and cayenne pepper.
- Pour in the buttermilk, cover and allow to marinate in the fridge for at least an hour.
- Remove chicken from refrigerator and allow to rest at room temperature for an hour.
- In a medium sized bowl combine flour, cornstarch and remaining seasoning.
- Once chicken is room temperature, coat chicken with flour mixture and shake off any excess.
- Let chicken rest at room temperature for 20 minutes.
- Preheat oil to 350°F.
- Fry chicken, turning occasionally until it reaches an internal temperature of 165 degrees and golden brown.
