Pizza Puffs
IngredientsÂ
- 1 roll Wewalka Classic Pizza Dough
- 1 pound Italian Sausage (I used turkey Italian)
- 1 cup marinara sauce
- 1/2 small onion diced
- 8 Oz Mozzarella finely cubed
- 4 Oz Mexican cheese shredded
- 1 1/2 Tbsp oil
- About 2 cups vegetable oil
DirectionsÂ
- 1. In a pan over medium-high heat add 1 1/2 Tbsp oil.
- Add onions and cook until translucent.
- Add Italian sausage. Cook until no longer pink and broken up.
- Stir in marinara and let simmer until slightly reduced. Stir in cubed Mozzarella and melt slightly (salt and pepper to taste if needed).
- On a large cutting board lightly dust the surface with flour to avoid sticking.
- Roll out pizza dough. Slice into 8 pizza puff-sized rectangles.
- Spoon filling into each of the bottom 4 rectangles and sprinkle with shredded cheese.
- Seal with the top rectangles. Use a fork top crimp/pinch the ends together on both sides.
- Bring vegetable oil to around 350 degrees. Deep fry pizza puffs for about 1-2 minutes per side (just until they become golden brown).
- Â Line in a cooling rack.
