This isn’t just your ordinary sandwich its a Grinder. Popularized on the platform tiktok the Grinder sandwich is layered with meat, cheese, and slaw styled salad, enjoy.
The Grinder Salad Sandwich
Ingredients
- 16oz Italian or French loaf of bread
- 1/2 lb deli sliced cheese of your choice (I used Munster and pepper jack)
- 1/2 lb your favorite sliced deli meat( I used hickory smoked turkey, get funky with it)
- For The Grinder Salad:
- 1 cup mayonnaise
- 2 Tbsp red wine vinegar
- 2 cloves garlic minced
- 1/2 tsp cracked black pepper
- 1/2 tsp dried oregano
- 1/2 tsp red pepper flakes
- 1/4 tsp Kosher Salt
- 1/4 cup pepperoncini sliced
- 1/4 red onion thinly sliced
- 1/2 head iceberg lettuce shredded
Assembly:
- 2 oz Parmesan cheese freshly grated
- 1 beefsteak tomato sliced
- Drizzle of olive oil or melted garlic butter
- Handful fresh parsley chopped
Directions
- Preheat oven to 350° F.
- Cut bread in half.
- Scoop some of the bread out leaving about a 1/2 in of the bread.
- Drizzle bread with olive oil or melted garlic butter.
- Layer both sides of bread with cheese and meats.
- Place in oven just until the cheese melts.
- To make grinder salad whisk together mayonnaise, vinegar, garlic, pepper, oregano, red pepper flakes and salt. Mix well.
- Next add red onion, pepperoncini and shredded lettuce. Stir until combined well.
- Sprinkle sandwich with 1/4 of the Parmesan cheese and add a layer of tomato slices to one half.
- Top with grinder salad,
- Close Sandwich and sprinkle top with olive oil or garlic butter, fresh parsley and just a dash of oregano.
- Slice in half and serve with your favorite chips.
