No need to go out for your fix of Greek chicken anymore, fam and friends will luv this recipe for Greek chicken gyros. You’ll look like a pro making skewered kabob style Greek chicken in the comfort of your home, enjoy.
Greek Chicken Gyros
Ingredients
- 12 Boneless skinless chicken thighs
- 1/4 cup Olive oil
- 2-3 Tbsp Honey Dijon Mustard
- 6 cloves minced garlic
- Lemon zest of 2 lemons
- Juice of half a lemon
- 1/2 Tbsp Kosher Salt
- 1 Tbsp dried oregano
- 1 cup water or chicken stock
- Pita bread
Directions
- Preheat oven to 425°F.
- In a bowl combine olive oil, Honey Dijon Mustard, garlic, salt, lemon zest, juice and oregano. Whisk together well.
- Pour Marinade over chicken and gently massage until thoroughly coated.
- Allow to marinate for at least an hour or up to overnight for optimum results.
- Once marinated thread a chicken on a vertical gyro oven plate. Make sure to Rotate each chicken piece opposite from the last. NOTE: If you don’t have a Vertical Gyro Oven Plate, cut an onion in half and place on a baking sheet. Position two wooden skewers vertically threw the onion and then you have it.. No need to buy one.
- Add 1 cup of water or chicken stock to the base and place in the oven. Stock will create a delicious sauce.
- Bake for 90 minutes. Place a piece of aluminum foil over the top to prevent chicken from burning.
- Remove from oven, let rest, cut and eat! You can pair with tomatoes, sliced onions, Tzatziki sauce over Pita bread.
