Kenny back in the kitchen this time he’s frying up an old classic, green tomatoes.
Fried Green Tomatoes
Ingredients
- 2 green tomatoes
- 1 cup Flour
- 1 cup Cornmeal
- 1 tsp salt
- 1 tsp pepper
- 1 tsp garlic powder
- 2 eggs
- Cooking oil
Directions
- Slice tomatoes into 1/4 in slices
- Season both sides with salt
- Mix 1 cup of flour with 1 tsp of salt, 1 tsp pepper, and 1 tsp Cajun seasoning
- Mix 1 cup cornmeal with 1 tsp garlic powder
- Mix 2 eggs with 2-3 tbsp of water and beat well
- Drop tomato slices in seasoned flour covering both sides
- Next place the floured tomato in the egg wash and
- Finally, dip into the cornmeal seasoning
- Preheat skillet with 1/4 in. of oil over med-high heat
- Plate breaded tomatoes in hot oil and cook 3 min per side until golden brown
- Place on a wire rack to cool (to avoid being soggy don’t place on paper towel)
