The Philly steak has a tasty friend, the chicken Philly cheese steak. All the cheesy goodness of a Philly cheese steak but made with chicken, enjoy.
Chicken Philly Cheese Steak
Ingredients
- 1 lb. Boneless skinless chicken thighs or breasts
- 2 Tbsp Olive Oil divided
- 1 Tbsp all purpose seasoning(salt, pepper, garlic powder)
- 1 onion sliced
- 1 red bell pepper sliced
- 1 green or any color bell pepper sliced
- 1/2 cup Queso cheese
- Shredded Mozzarella
- Hoagie rolls
Directions
- Preheat oven to 250°F.
- In a large bowl place chicken, drizzle with 1/2 the olive oil.
- Season with all purpose or salt, pepper and garlic powder. Coat well on both sides.
- Heat remaining oil on medium heat in a large cast iron skillet (preferably).
- Once hot, place chicken (smooth side down) in skillet and cook 4-5 minutes per side until golden brown and 165 internal temperature.
- Remove chicken to a plate.
- In the same skillet add onions and bell peppers. Saute for 3-5 minutes.
- Cut chicken into bite-sized chunks.
- Add chicken with the veggies and toss to combine.
- Add Queso and stir. Turn off heat.
- Cut open Hoagie rolls and lightly toasted if desired. Place open faced up on a baking sheet.
- Divide the chicken mixture onto the Hoagie rolls and top with shredded cheese.
- Place in preheated oven and toast for about 5 minutes. Cheese should be melted and bread still soft.
- Cut in half and Smash!
