Beer Battered Portobello Mushroom Fries
IngredientsÂ
- Vegetable Oil
- 2 large portobello mushroom caps sliced into 1/4 inch slices
- 1 1/2 cups Buttermilk
- 1/2 cup beer
- 1 cup all purpose flour
- Pinch of salt
- Lemonnaise
- 1/3 cup mayonnaise
- Juice of 1 lemon
- Salt and Cracked Black Pepper
DirectionsÂ
- Heat several inches of oil in a deep pan or deep fryer to 350°F
- Mix flour, salt, buttermilk and beer together into a pancake batterlike consistency.
- When oil is ready and hot coat mushrooms with batter, shaking off excess and fry in batches until golden brown on both sides (about 3-4 minutes).
- Drain on baking rack lined with paper towels.
- Lemonnaise sauce: Whisk together mayonnaise, lemon juice, salt and healthy amount of pepper.
- Serve immediately!
