From the moment I cracked the bottle I knew this was a good stout. First off the smell is a slight grape similar to wine candy with a deep brown color like most stouts but a hint of blue (maybe cus i was told its grape). After pouring the head was large and tan. The flavor, because its barrel aged has a full warm body and the kicker is the hint of grape that blends surprisingly well with the traditional stout flavor.
As far as thickness I’ve had thicker beers but it is definitely not watery. The ABV on this baby is 10% so just one 12 oz bottle and your good to go. All and all if you like grape and or stout beers give it a try. Dogfish head has produce another quality beer that also hits a niche market. A pricey beer coming in a about $5 its worth a pickup on special occasions. Cheers!!!
